The prophecy of the 70 Weeks of Daniel is one of the most remarkable and important prophecies in the entire Bible. It reveals God’s prophetic timeline for Israel and accurately foretells events stretching from the coming of the Messiah to the establishment of God’s eternal Kingdom.
The first 69 weeks were fulfilled with the first coming of Jesus Christ exactly as Daniel foretold.
Since then, a unique period known as the Church Age has taken place, during which the Gospel is being preached to all nations.
The 70th Week of Daniel, which corresponds to the seven years of the Tribulation, will begin after the Rapture of the Church when the Antichrist confirms a seven-year covenant with Israel.
Halfway through those seven years, he will break his covenant, desecrate the Third Temple, declare himself to be god, and begin the period Jesus called the Great Tribulation.
The prophecy will ultimately culminate in the visible return of Jesus Christ, the defeat of the Antichrist, and the establishment of Christ’s Millennial Kingdom.
For many students of Bible prophecy, Daniel’s 70 Weeks provide the prophetic framework for understanding the events of the end times.

The 70 Weeks of Daniel represent God’s prophetic timetable for Israel and His plan to establish His eternal Kingdom👇
In Daniel chapter 9, the angel Gabriel tells Daniel that seventy weeks have been determined for the people of Israel and for Jerusalem.
In this prophecy, each “week” represents seven years. The 70 Weeks therefore equal 490 prophetic years.
“Seventy weeks are determined for your people and for your holy city.”
Daniel 9:24
Within this prophetic timeline, God foretold several major events, many of which have already been fulfilled:
1) The decree to rebuild Jerusalem, issued by King Artaxerxes in 445 BC (Nehemiah 2).
2) The coming of the Messiah, fulfilled by Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem around AD 32 (Daniel 9:25).
3) The death of the Messiah, fulfilled through the crucifixion of Jesus around AD 32–33 (Daniel 9:26).
4) The destruction of Jerusalem and the Second Temple, fulfilled by the Roman army in AD 70 (Daniel 9:26).
These fulfilled prophecies demonstrate that God directs history according to His perfect timetable.
The first 69 weeks were fulfilled at Jesus Christ’s first coming, but the final week still lies in the future👇
After the first 69 weeks, Daniel foretold that the Messiah would be “cut off.”
This prophecy was fulfilled through the crucifixion of Jesus Christ around AD 32–33.
A few decades later, another prophecy of Daniel was fulfilled when the Romans destroyed Jerusalem and the Second Temple in AD 70.
“The people of the prince who is to come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary.”
Daniel 9:26
Since that time, God’s prophetic clock for Israel has been temporarily paused during the present Church Age, while the Gospel is preached to all nations.
The 70th Week will begin when a future world leader—the Antichrist—confirms a seven-year covenant with Israel.
“He shall confirm a covenant with many for one week.”
Daniel 9:27
Halfway through those seven years:
1) he will break his covenant with Israel
2) he will stop the Temple sacrifices
3) he will desecrate the Third Temple
Jesus referred to this event as the Abomination of Desolation.
“When you see the Abomination of Desolation spoken of by Daniel the prophet…”
Matthew 24:15
The second half of this seven-year period is known as the Great Tribulation.
The prophecy of the 70 Weeks is considered one of the greatest prophecies in the Bible because several of its predictions have already been fulfilled with remarkable precision👇
More than 500 years before the birth of Jesus Christ, Daniel accurately foretold:
1) the rebuilding of Jerusalem (445 BC)
2) the coming of the Messiah (around AD 32)
3) the death of the Messiah (AD 32–33)
4) the destruction of Jerusalem and the Second Temple (AD 70)
Every one of these prophecies was fulfilled exactly as God had declared.
Only one part of Daniel’s prophecy remains unfulfilled: the 70th Week, the future seven-year Tribulation.
During this final seven-year period, the remaining events of God’s prophetic plan for Israel will unfold.
Daniel provides the prophetic timeline, while the Gospels and the Book of Revelation reveal in greater detail what will happen during that final week, leading to the glorious Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
The fulfilled prophecies of Daniel provide compelling evidence that the remaining prophecies will also be fulfilled exactly as God has promised, culminating in Christ’s return and the establishment of His everlasting Kingdom.

“Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.
Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.”
In this prophecy, Daniel announces the seventy weeks (70 “weeks” of years) of God’s plan for Israel. The first 69 weeks lead to the coming and death of the Messiah, while the 70th week corresponds to a future seven-year period known as the Tribulation. During this time, the Antichrist will make a covenant with many, break it in the middle of the seven years, and bring about the abomination of desolation before the glorious return of Jesus Christ.
“Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.”
In this prophecy, Daniel announces that the Messiah would come after a predetermined prophetic period, beginning with the decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem. This prophecy points to the coming of Jesus Christ, fulfilling God’s plan foretold centuries in advance.
“For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.”
In this passage, Paul reveals a mystery concerning God’s plan for Israel. He explains that Israel’s partial blindness is temporary and will continue until the full number of the Gentiles has come in. This event will precede the spiritual restoration of Israel foretold by the prophets.
“And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.”
In this prophetic passage, Daniel announces a final period marked by a covenant, the cessation of sacrifices, and a great profanation. This verse is associated with the Antichrist and the events of the end times.
“And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.”
In this prophetic vision, John sees the glorious return of Jesus Christ.
Jesus will visibly return to the earth as King and Judge at the end of the 7 years of tribulation to judge and establish righteousness.
