What Does the Book of Ezekiel Reveal?

The Restoration of Israel

Ezekiel’s prophecy announces that God would gather the people of Israel from among the nations and bring them back to their land. A first part of this promise was fulfilled after the Babylonian exile, when Jewish people returned to Jerusalem and rebuilt the Temple.

A major fulfillment also took place in 1948, when the State of Israel was reestablished after nearly two thousand years of dispersion. This event marked an important step in prophetic history, as several end-times prophecies announce that Israel would once again be present in its land.

This gathering prepares the context for several future events announced by the prophets, including the attack of Gog and Magog and the events that will precede the Tribulation.

The Battle of Gog and Magog

Ezekiel announces that a coalition of nations led by Gog will come against Israel in the last days. This attack will take place when Israel is established in its land and appears to be living in a time of security.

According to the prophetic timeline, this war will occur before the Rapture of the Church and will be one of the events that prepares the way for the later events of the end times. God Himself will intervene to defend Israel and demonstrate His power before all nations.

This prophecy must not be confused with the rebellion of Gog and Magog in Revelation 20:7-9. Although both passages use the same names, they describe two different events separated by more than one thousand years: the first attack concerns a coalition of nations coming against Israel before the Tribulation, while the second refers to Satan’s final rebellion after the Millennial Kingdom.

Starting in Ezekiel 40, the prophet receives a detailed vision of a future Temple, including its dimensions, structures, and organization. This vision reveals the restoration of worship and emphasizes God’s holiness among His people.

This Temple is connected to future events related to Jesus’ reign on the earth. It is associated with the Millennial Kingdom, a period during which Jesus will rule with righteousness and the promises made to Israel will find their fulfillment.

This prophecy shows that God is preparing a complete restoration of His people and a special manifestation of His presence among humanity.

The Lord Is There

The book of Ezekiel ends with an extraordinary promise: the city will be called “The LORD is there.” This declaration reveals that God’s presence will permanently dwell among His people.

This vision announces the final fulfillment of God’s plan after the events of the end times, the reign of Jesus, and the final judgment. It points toward the promise of the New Heaven and the New Earth, where God will dwell eternally with humanity.

It shows that the entire prophetic history leads to the complete restoration of fellowship between God and His people.
