« And I intreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life. »
In this verse, Paul asks a faithful fellow worker to help several believers who had labored alongside him in the work of the Gospel. He specifically mentions Clement and other fellow workers, whose names are written in the Book of Life, showing that they belong to Jesus Christ.
This statement was fulfilled in the first century, when Paul wrote this letter to the believers in Philippi. It reveals a truth that remains true today: all who place their faith in Jesus Christ have their names written in the Book of Life.
This verse emphasizes the assurance of salvation for those who belong to Christ. The Book of Life is mentioned again in Revelation 20:15 and Revelation 21:27, where only those whose names are written in it will enter the eternal presence of God.
« For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. »
In this verse, Jesus reveals the immeasurable love of God for all humanity. God gave His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to provide salvation for everyone who believes in Him. Salvation is God’s gracious gift, offered freely to all who place their faith in Jesus Christ.
This promise was fulfilled in the first century when Jesus Christ came into the world, died on the cross for the sins of humanity, and rose again from the dead. Through His sacrifice, God made forgiveness of sins and everlasting life available to everyone who believes in His Son.
This verse summarizes the heart of the Gospel. It reminds us that salvation is not earned by works but is received through faith in Jesus Christ. Everyone who trusts in Him receives everlasting life and the promise of living forever in the presence of God.
11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
In this passage, John describes the Great White Throne Judgment, which takes place after the end of the Millennial Kingdom. All the dead who do not belong to Jesus Christ are raised to stand before God and give an account of their lives.
The books are opened to reveal each person’s works, while the Book of Life identifies those who have received salvation. Those whose names are not found written in the Book of Life are judged according to their works and are condemned to the second death, which is the lake of fire.
This passage reveals God’s perfect justice. His judgment is righteous, impartial, and final. It reminds us that salvation is not obtained by works, but through faith in Jesus Christ, whose redeemed have their names written in the Book of Life. Those who belong to Him will not stand before this judgment but will live forever with God in the New Heaven and the New Earth.
« And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life. »
In this verse, John describes the New Jerusalem, the holy city that will descend from heaven in the New Heaven and the New Earth. He declares that nothing unclean, sinful, or false will ever enter it. Only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life will have access to this eternal dwelling place.
This prophecy has not yet been fulfilled. It will be fulfilled after the Great White Throne Judgment, when God establishes the New Heaven and the New Earth. At that time, all those who have been saved through faith in Jesus Christ will enter the New Jerusalem and dwell forever in the presence of God.
This verse emphasizes the perfect holiness of God’s eternal dwelling place. Only those who have received salvation through Jesus Christ and whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life will enter, where they will enjoy eternal fellowship with God, free from sin, suffering, and death.
