« For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. »
In this verse, Jesus reveals the immeasurable love of God for all humanity. God gave His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to provide salvation for everyone who believes in Him. Salvation is God’s gracious gift, offered freely to all who place their faith in Jesus Christ.
This promise was fulfilled in the first century when Jesus Christ came into the world, died on the cross for the sins of humanity, and rose again from the dead. Through His sacrifice, God made forgiveness of sins and everlasting life available to everyone who believes in His Son.
This verse summarizes the heart of the Gospel. It reminds us that salvation is not earned by works but is received through faith in Jesus Christ. Everyone who trusts in Him receives everlasting life and the promise of living forever in the presence of God.
« Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; »
In this verse, Peter calls the people of Israel to repent and turn to God after proclaiming that Jesus Christ is the promised Messiah. He promises that their sins will be forgiven if they sincerely repent and place their faith in Jesus Christ.
This call was fulfilled in the first century, when Peter preached it in Jerusalem shortly after the resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ. Since that time, everyone who repents and believes in Jesus Christ receives the forgiveness of sins. However, the “times of refreshing” spoken of by Peter will find their complete fulfillment at the glorious return of Jesus Christ, when He establishes His Millennial Kingdom on the earth.
This verse shows that repentance and faith in Jesus Christ bring the forgiveness of sins and point forward to the future restoration promised by God. It connects the salvation offered today with the coming reign of the Messiah, when all of God’s promises to Israel and the nations will be fully accomplished.
« Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. »
In this verse, Jesus urges His disciples to remain constantly watchful as they await His coming. Because the exact time of His return is known only to God, believers are called to live each day in faith, obedience, and hopeful expectation.
This verse applies to the Rapture of the Church. Although believers can recognize the signs that the last days are approaching, no one knows the exact day when Jesus Christ will come for His Church. For this reason, Jesus emphasizes the importance of being ready at all times.
This verse is a call to spiritual watchfulness. Believers are to live in a genuine relationship with Jesus Christ, indwelt by the Holy Spirit, so that they will be prepared when the Lord comes to receive His Church.
45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
In this passage, Jesus compares His disciples to a faithful and wise servant who faithfully carries out the work entrusted to him by his Master. This servant cares for others by providing them with spiritual nourishment, representing the teaching of the Word of God, and devotes his life to serving the Lord.
These words will find their fulfillment at the Rapture of the Church, when Jesus Christ comes for His Church. Blessed are the believers whom He finds faithfully serving Him—preaching the Gospel, teaching biblical truth, encouraging others, and faithfully carrying out the work He has entrusted to them.
This passage reminds every believer that they are called to be useful in God’s work. While waiting for the Rapture, Christians are not to remain passive but to faithfully serve Jesus Christ, use the gifts He has given them, care for others, and help spread the Gospel throughout the world.
