📖  Ezekiel 36:24

« For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land. »

In this verse, God promises to gather Israel after its dispersion among the nations and bring His people back to the land He gave them. This promise demonstrates that, despite their exile, God would never abandon His covenant people and would faithfully fulfill His Word.

This prophecy has seen a remarkable fulfillment through the regathering of the Jewish people to their ancestral homeland and the rebirth of the State of Israel in 1948. Since then, Jews from around the world have returned to Israel, reflecting God’s promise to gather His people from the nations.

This verse highlights God’s faithfulness to His promises. The return of Israel to its land stands as a significant fulfillment of this prophecy and prepares the way for the further restoration that Ezekiel describes in the following verses, including Israel’s future spiritual renewal.

📖  Ezekiel 38:8

« After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them. »

In this verse, God announces that Gog, leading a coalition of nations including Magog, Meshech, Tubal, Persia (modern-day Iran), Cush (generally identified with Ethiopia or Sudan), Put (Libya), Gomer, and the house of Togarmah (Ezekiel 38:2–6), will launch an invasion of Israel in the last days.

The attack will be directed against the mountains of Israel, generally identified with the mountainous region of Judea and Samaria (the West Bank). It is in this area that Gog’s armies will advance, expecting to overwhelm Israel.

This verse introduces the beginning of that invasion. However, God will intervene directly to destroy Gog’s armies, demonstrating His power and sovereignty before all the nations.

📖  Zechariah 12:10

« And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn. »

In this verse, God promises to pour out the Spirit of grace and supplication upon Israel. The inhabitants of Jerusalem will finally recognize Jesus Christ as the Messiah whom they rejected and crucified. As they look upon Him, they will respond with deep repentance and turn to Him in faith.

The phrase “they shall look upon me whom they have pierced” is a remarkable prophecy of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, written centuries before it took place. It reveals that Israel’s rejection of the Messiah was not the end of God’s plan, but that a future day of national repentance and restoration is still to come.

This verse highlights God’s grace and faithfulness toward Israel. He will open their hearts to recognize their true Messiah, leading them to repentance and fulfilling His prophetic promises concerning His people.

📖  Revelation 12:13-16

13 And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.

14 And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.

15 And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.

16 And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.

In this passage, Satan, after being cast down to the earth, pursues the woman, who represents Israel. His purpose is to destroy the people through whom God has fulfilled His promises.

The woman receives God's special protection. The “two wings of a great eagle” represent divine help that enables the Jews who have recognized Jesus as the Messiah and placed their faith in Him to flee into the wilderness, to the place prepared for them. They will be nourished and protected for a time, and times, and half a time, or three and a half years, corresponding to the Great Tribulation.

Satan then attempts to destroy them by sending a flood after them. But God intervenes directly: the earth swallows the water and prevents Satan from reaching them.

This scene shows that despite Satan's great wrath and his efforts to prevent God's plan from being fulfilled, God remains sovereign and protects those who have placed their faith in Jesus until His Return, in order to fulfill His promises to Israel.
