The mystery of the Church is one of the most remarkable truths revealed in the New Testament. The apostle Paul explains that this mystery was not fully revealed to the prophets of the Old Testament but was made known after the coming of Jesus Christ.
In the Bible, the word “mystery” does not refer to something mysterious or impossible to understand. Instead, it describes a truth that God intentionally kept hidden until the time He chose to reveal it.
This mystery concerns the creation of the Church—a single body made up of both Jews and Gentiles who are united through faith in Jesus Christ.
The Church occupies a unique place in God’s plan. Made up of all who place their faith in Jesus Christ, it is called to live in fellowship with Him until the Rapture. Understanding the mystery of the Church also helps us better understand Israel’s role in Bible prophecy, the events of the end times, and the prophecy of the Seventy Weeks of Daniel, which is a key element of the Bible’s prophetic timeline.
Understanding this mystery helps explain why the Bible distinguishes between God’s prophetic plan for Israel and His present work through the Church.
Content based on the Bible
God had prepared His plan before the foundation of the world, but He revealed it fully only after the coming of Jesus Christ.
Through Jesus Christ, all believers become members of one body—the Church.
The Bible describes the Church as the Bride of Christ, called to live with Him forever.
The Church will be caught up to meet Jesus Christ before God resumes His prophetic program for Israel.

In the New Testament, Paul repeatedly uses the word “mystery” to describe the Church. He explains that this truth was not made known to previous generations in the same way it has now been revealed.
“This mystery was not made known to people in other generations as it has now been revealed…”
Ephesians 3:5
The mystery is not that Gentiles could be saved. The Old Testament already foretold that the nations would one day receive God’s blessings.
What had remained hidden was that Jews and Gentiles would become one body, sharing the same promises through Jesus Christ without distinction.
The Church is therefore a new work of God that began after the death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ.
Every believer becomes part of the Body of Christ through the work of the Holy Spirit.
This spiritual union had never existed before in biblical history and represents one of God’s greatest revelations in the New Testament.
The Old Testament clearly foretold the coming of the Messiah, His Kingdom, the restoration of Israel, and the blessing of the nations.
However, it did not clearly reveal that between Christ’s first and second coming, God would create a new people composed of believers from every nation.
This period is commonly known as the Church Age.
During this age, God is calling people from every tribe, language, and nation to receive salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.
Paul explains that this truth was always part of God’s eternal plan but remained hidden until the appointed time.
“To me… this grace was given… to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery, which for ages past was kept hidden in God.”
Ephesians 3:8–9
The word “mystery” therefore emphasizes not that God’s plan was impossible to understand, but that it had not yet been revealed.
With the coming of Christ and the ministry of the apostles, God unveiled this extraordinary truth to the world.
The mystery of the Church is closely connected to the Rapture.
According to the prophetic understanding presented on this website, the Church occupies a unique place in God’s redemptive plan.
When the full number of believers has come to Christ, Jesus will return to gather His Church.
This event will mark the completion of the Church Age and the beginning of the final phase of God’s prophetic program concerning Israel.
Following the Rapture will come the Tribulation, the Great Tribulation, and ultimately the glorious return of Jesus Christ to establish His Kingdom on earth.
The Rapture is therefore more than a prophetic event.
It represents the completion of God’s unique work through the Church.
Paul also refers to the transformation of believers as a mystery:
“Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed.”
1 Corinthians 15:51
In an instant, believers will receive glorified bodies and be caught up to meet the Lord.
This glorious event completes the mystery of the Church and demonstrates God’s faithfulness in fulfilling every promise He has made to His people.

“How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words,
Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)
Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;
That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel.”
In this passage, Paul reveals the mystery of Christ, which had been hidden for generations but has now been made known by God. Through the Gospel, Jews and Gentiles are united as one body—the Church—sharing together in the same promises through Jesus Christ.
“For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;
Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby.”
In this passage, Paul teaches that Jesus Christ reconciled Jews and Gentiles to God through His death on the cross. By breaking down the wall of separation, He formed one body—the Church—uniting all believers in peace and making them partakers of the same promises in Christ.
“Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.”
In this passage, Paul compares a husband’s love for his wife to the sacrificial love of Jesus Christ for His Church. Christ gave Himself to sanctify and prepare His Church as a glorious Bride, holy, pure, and without blemish, ready for her eternal union with Him.
“For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God.
And the dead in Christ will rise first.
Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.
And thus we shall always be with the Lord.”
In this prophetic passage, Paul describes the rapture of believers: the dead in Christ will rise first, then living believers will be caught up to meet Jesus Christ in the air.
