📖  Revelation 21:1

« And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. »

In this verse, John describes the beginning of the eternal state, following the Great White Throne Judgment and the final judgment of evil. God creates a new heaven and a new earth, replacing the former creation that had been affected by sin, suffering, and death.

This new creation is completely renewed and perfectly pure. The statement “there was no more sea” emphasizes that the former order has completely passed away. Everything associated with the fallen world has been removed, making way for a creation where God’s presence fills all things.

This verse marks the beginning of eternity for all believers. The New Heaven and the New Earth will be the everlasting home of those who belong to Jesus Christ, where they will live forever in perfect peace, joy, and fellowship with God.

📖  Revelation 21:2

« And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. »

In this verse, John sees the New Jerusalem descending from heaven, sent by God. This holy city is perfectly prepared to be the eternal dwelling place of all believers in the New Heaven and the New Earth.

The comparison to a bride adorned for her husband emphasizes its beauty, purity, and perfection. The New Jerusalem reflects the glory of God and reveals the complete fulfillment of His plan of redemption. Everything is prepared for the redeemed to live forever in His presence.

This verse announces the ultimate fulfillment of God’s promise to dwell with His people. The New Jerusalem will be the place where believers will enjoy the presence of God and Jesus Christ forever in a perfectly renewed creation.

📖  Revelation 21:3-4

3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

In these verses, John describes the final fulfillment of God's plan after the final judgment and the establishment of the new heavens and the new earth. God will now dwell with humanity in perfect and everlasting fellowship. There will no longer be any separation between God and those who belong to Him.

All the consequences of sin will have disappeared. Death, sorrow, crying, and pain will no longer exist. God will wipe away every tear, showing that all the suffering and trials of human history will have finally come to an end.

This promise marks the beginning of the eternal state, in which sin, death, and all suffering will have been permanently removed. God's presence with His people will then be perfect and everlasting.

📖  Revelation 21:27

« And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life. »

In this verse, John describes the New Jerusalem, the holy city that will descend from heaven in the New Heaven and the New Earth. He declares that nothing unclean, sinful, or false will ever enter it. Only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life will have access to this eternal dwelling place.

This prophecy has not yet been fulfilled. It will be fulfilled after the Great White Throne Judgment, when God establishes the New Heaven and the New Earth. At that time, all those who have been saved through faith in Jesus Christ will enter the New Jerusalem and dwell forever in the presence of God.

This verse emphasizes the perfect holiness of God’s eternal dwelling place. Only those who have received salvation through Jesus Christ and whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life will enter, where they will enjoy eternal fellowship with God, free from sin, suffering, and death.
