📖  Revelation 1:7

« Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. »

In this passage, John announces the glorious return of Jesus Christ to the earth. Unlike His first coming, when He came in humility as the Savior, He will return with power and glory. His return will be visible to everyone: “every eye shall see him,” and the nations of the world will recognize Him as the true King and Lord.

The phrase “they also which pierced him” recalls the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and declares that those who rejected Him will ultimately recognize who He is. The peoples of the earth will mourn, not with joy, but because they will realize they are standing before the One they rejected.

This verse points to the event described in Revelation 19, when Jesus Christ returns at the end of the Tribulation to defeat the Antichrist, bring the rebellion of the nations at Armageddon to an end, and establish His Millennial Kingdom. It reminds believers that Christ’s return is certain and that He will faithfully fulfill every promise of God.

📖  Revelation 19:20

« And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. »

In this verse, John describes the judgment of the Antichrist and the False Prophet at the glorious return of Jesus Christ. Following their defeat, they are seized and judged for deceiving the nations and leading people to worship the Beast and receive the mark of the Beast (666).

The False Prophet had performed great signs and miracles to deceive the inhabitants of the earth and turn them away from God. His work of deception comes to a permanent end when Jesus Christ intervenes in power.

This verse is significant because the Antichrist and the False Prophet are the first beings to be cast into the lake of fire, the place of eternal judgment. Their punishment is immediate and final, demonstrating that no one can escape the perfect justice of God.

📖  Zechariah 12:10

« And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn. »

In this verse, God promises to pour out the Spirit of grace and supplication upon Israel. The inhabitants of Jerusalem will finally recognize Jesus Christ as the Messiah whom they rejected and crucified. As they look upon Him, they will respond with deep repentance and turn to Him in faith.

The phrase “they shall look upon me whom they have pierced” is a remarkable prophecy of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, written centuries before it took place. It reveals that Israel’s rejection of the Messiah was not the end of God’s plan, but that a future day of national repentance and restoration is still to come.

This verse highlights God’s grace and faithfulness toward Israel. He will open their hearts to recognize their true Messiah, leading them to repentance and fulfilling His prophetic promises concerning His people.

📖  Revelation 20:4

« And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. »

In this passage, John describes the beginning of the Millennial Kingdom, following the glorious return of Jesus Christ, the defeat of the Antichrist and the False Prophet, and the binding of Satan. He sees thrones, and those seated on them are given authority to judge with Christ.

John also sees the believers who were martyred during the Tribulation because they refused to worship the Beast, his image, or receive the mark of the Beast (666). They are raised to life and reign with Jesus Christ on the earth for one thousand years.

This verse demonstrates God’s faithfulness to those who remain loyal to Him, even unto death. Those who suffered for their faith are rewarded by sharing in the reign of Jesus Christ during His Millennial Kingdom, fulfilling God’s promises of victory and reward to His faithful people.
