The Two Witnesses of Revelation

The Two Witnesses are among the most remarkable figures in the book of Revelation, and their ministry is described in detail in Revelation 11. During the first half of the Seven-Year Tribulation, God will send these two servants to Jerusalem to proclaim His message, call people to repentance, and bear witness to the truth. Their ministry shows that, even in the midst of the first judgments, God continues to give humanity an opportunity to turn to Him.

Their ministry will last 1,260 days (three and a half years). During this time, God will protect them and empower them to perform miraculous signs. At the end of their mission, they will be killed by the Beast, but God will raise them back to life three and a half days later before the eyes of the whole world. This page explains who the Two Witnesses are, what they will do, and where they fit within the timeline of Bible prophecy.

What Will the Two Witnesses Do?

They Will Prophesy for 1,260 Days

In Revelation 11, God appoints two witnesses to proclaim His message in Jerusalem for 1,260 days, the first three and a half years of the Tribulation. Throughout their ministry, they will call people to repentance and boldly proclaim God’s truth.

Their ministry demonstrates that God continues to offer His grace even while the first judgments are being poured out on the earth.

God Will Protect Them

Throughout their mission, God will give the Two Witnesses supernatural authority. They will perform extraordinary miracles, and no one will be able to silence them until their ministry has been completed.

Their protection shows that God remains in complete control of prophetic events and continues to warn the world before the Day of the Lord.

A Miraculous Resurrection

At the end of the 1,260 days, the Beast will kill the Two Witnesses. Their bodies will lie in the streets of Jerusalem for three and a half days before God raises them to life and calls them up to heaven in the sight of the whole world.

Their resurrection will be a spectacular demonstration of God’s power and sovereignty. Soon afterward, the Antichrist will exercise his authority fully as the events leading to the second half of the Tribulation unfold.

A Final Call Before the Judgments

The ministry of the Two Witnesses reveals God’s patience and mercy. Even during the first half of the Tribulation, God continues to call people to repentance before His judgments intensify.

Their message reminds the world that God still desires to save everyone who turns to Him in faith.
