📖  Zechariah 14:2

« For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. »

In this verse, God declares that He will allow all nations to gather against Jerusalem for battle. This invasion marks the climax of the nations’ rebellion against Israel at the end of the Tribulation. The city will suffer greatly as it is captured, its houses plundered, its people afflicted, and half of its population taken into captivity.

However, Jerusalem will not be completely destroyed. God will preserve a remnant of His people, fulfilling His promises to Israel. This prepares for the events described in the following verses, when Jesus Christ returns to deliver Israel and defeat the nations gathered against it.

This verse demonstrates that, even in the midst of great suffering, God remains in complete control. The attack on Jerusalem does not end in the victory of the nations, but sets the stage for the glorious return of Jesus Christ, who will intervene to save His people and establish His righteous reign.

📖  Zechariah 14:4

« And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. »

In this verse, Zechariah foretells that Jesus Christ will physically return to the earth and stand upon the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem. His arrival will trigger a dramatic event as the mountain splits in two, creating a great valley.

This extraordinary sign demonstrates the power and authority of the Messiah. Unlike His first coming in humility, Jesus Christ will return in glory to intervene directly in human history and fulfill God’s promises.

This verse emphasizes that the return of Jesus Christ will be a real, visible, and powerful event. It marks God’s decisive intervention on behalf of His people and the fulfillment of the prophetic promises recorded in the Scriptures.

📖  Zechariah 14:9

« And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one. »

In this verse, Zechariah declares that Jesus Christ will reign as King over all the earth following His glorious return. The kingdoms and rulers of this world will have come to an end, and the Lord alone will exercise sovereign authority over every nation.

During the Millennial Kingdom, Jesus Christ will rule with perfect righteousness, peace, and justice. All nations will acknowledge His authority, and every form of idolatry and false worship will come to an end. The LORD alone will be worshiped as the one true God.

This verse reveals the ultimate fulfillment of God’s plan for the earth. After the conflicts and judgments of the last days, the reign of Jesus Christ will bring lasting peace and perfect justice, fulfilling the promises proclaimed by the prophets.

📖  Zechariah 14:11

« And men shall dwell in it, and there shall be no more utter destruction; but Jerusalem shall be safely inhabited. »

In this verse, Zechariah declares that after the glorious return of Jesus Christ, Jerusalem will finally experience lasting peace and security. Its inhabitants will live in the city without fear of future destruction or the judgments that had marked its history.

The statement “there shall be no more utter destruction” indicates that the time of divine judgment against Jerusalem has come to an end. The city will be fully restored and securely protected under the reign of Jesus Christ.

This verse highlights the contrast between Jerusalem’s troubled past and its glorious future in the Millennial Kingdom. Under the rule of the Messiah, the city will become a place of peace, safety, and blessing, fulfilling God’s promises to His people.
